It has been wonderful to see so many smiles over the past week as we all return for the term. I hope that you all had a chance to spend time with family and friends. I’m sure many families will take advantage of the long weekend this week (Tully Show Holiday Friday 22nd) and are keeping everything crossed for fine weather.
Over the holidays we had fans installed in the undercover area. These two enormous fans will really help out when the weather heats up later in the year. We sincerely thank the P&F for making the purchase and installation of these fans possible.
I would also like to thank the St. Gerard Committee for purchasing and installing two new bench seats. This seating has been placed in play areas for students to use. The St. Gerard Committee has donated this seating on behalf of Fr. John O’Connor, who many of you will remember as a former Parish Priest who was heavily involved in supporting students to participate in sports.

Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Week (Wk 3). This week is an opportunity for all 309 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos.
Our Yr 4-6 students will travel to Innisfail to celebrate Mass with other schools in the Southern Deanery and stay for a short time afterwards. Prep – 3 Students will celebrate with a Liturgy at St. Clare’s. Further information can be found in the APRE News section of our latest newsletter.
National Pyjama Day
National Pyjama Day falls on Friday 22nd July. As it is our show holiday, St. Clare’s will celebrate this day on Monday 25th July. Students & staff (parents are welcome to join in too!), are invited to come to school in their pyjamas. Closed in shoes are still required to be worn and pyjamas also need to fit in with the school’s Sunsmart policy. Anyone coming to school in their pyjama’s is asked to bring a gold coin donation. Students that do not wish to wear their pyjama’s are to come in their usual school uniform.
